Road 68

Rustic Road 68, 8/22/11
Rock County, 6 miles, paved

This Rustic Road travels through woodland, rolling meadows, rich agricultural farmland, and crosses Badfish Creek.

 Badfish Creek

We thought these farm buildings were lovely...the rich barn reds against the green leaves and golden tassles of the corn plants.

We were surprised at this barn when we got closer...when we saw these openings in the sides.  They are there to allow for air flow to dry the tobacco hanging inside.

Road 87

Rustic Road 87, 8/21/2011

Denis and I took a week long trip in August 2011 along the Hwy 51 corridor.  In Wisconsin, Hwy 51 runs from Beloit to its northern terminus in Hurley.  Along the way, we tried our very best to stay off the interstate and travel "Old 51".  Along with visiting small and unique towns along the way, we also drove a number of Rustic Roads on our trip north.

Rustic Road 87 was our first Rustic Road and is located just south of Ft. Atkinson in Jefferson County.  It travels for 6.8 miles along a paved roadway.  As you can see by these pictures, this road winds through hilly, active farmland, interspersed with canopies of trees.

You can learn more about the Hwy 51 drive through Wisconsin here.
You can also read about our discoveries along Hwy 51 on our travel blog.  Once there, click on 2011 link.

On to Rock County in my next post.
